My Journey

When I became pregnant with my son in early Jan 2016 I had an interest arise in knowing all I could about what and how was the best way to birth. I read books , I went to classes , I met with several woman to find out how they birthed and what their stories were. Quickly I decided I wanted a drug free birth and to birth as naturally as possible. The word ' doula ' kept popping up, so I knew I needed one in my team! Fortunately, I had a friend that was in training and needed to attend an additional birth. I was happy to oblige! I gave birth to my son on, September 9th , 2016 , almost three weeks early. My doula was new to the world of being a doula , but she was absolutely amazing. I couldn't imagine doing it without her then or in my future births! As time went on, despite me already having given birth, my interest for labor and delivery only grew. In October of 2018, a good friend of mine went to the hospital to deliver her son. She was gracious enough to allow me to attend her labor. When I left the hospital ,I was so filled with excitement and passion that I knew I had to get some sort of qualification to attend more births! Thus I started searching for a school. I decided on International Doula Institute and finished my certification early February 2019. I feel so privileged to be in a position where I can serve and educate woman about their options in this delicate and precious time of their lives! It is such an honor.
